Corylus hedging plants and trees

Hazel (corylus avellana) is a familiar British native small tree, which produces yellow catkins in late winter/spring, followed by hazel nuts. The deciduous leaves make a fine golden yellow autumn display. The basal shoots have many uses, including making thatching spars and hurdles.
