Leaves: Evergreen, small.
Features: Small, black glossy berries.
Height: Low.
Grows in: Sun, shade, normal soil, dry soil, exposed sites, chalky soil, sandy soil.
Other details: Suitable for parterres, slow growing.
Hedge spacing: 20-40cm.
    Ilex crenata 'Convexa' (Japanese holly) is a tiny dark, glossy, green leaved and slow growing holly. It will grow to about 4 metres tall eventually if un-trimmed, but is usually clipped to form dwarf clipped hedges or topiary.
